The Shrine is a welcoming, inclusive place. Parishioners treat each other like family. It is a loving, serving community of Catholic Christians that's comprised of people from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, nationalities, age groups, etc. All are welcome.
I adore the Shrine. The choir is good, hymn choices are excellent, programs are always provided, and I feel so welcomed by the community. Despite its large scale, it is a very intimate group. I go for the Sandwich Ministry (free bag lunch) on weekdays and St. Francis Table (soup kitchen) on Saturdays. The wait can be long, I recommend going around 8am on Saturday mornings to get your ticket then coming back at 10am to eat. The soup kitchen is way more than soup.
