Our Mission
FaithScout helps people find a church that actually fits — not just the nearest one with five stars and a nice website. Every week, thousands of people move to a new city, leave a church they've outgrown, or step inside a sanctuary for the first time in years. The tools available to them haven't changed much: a pin on a map, a few photos, maybe a sermon recording. That isn't enough.
We think the experience of visiting a church — the welcome, the worship style, the rhythm of the service, the theology from the pulpit, how kids are cared for, whether the community actually looks like a community — matters far more than any marketing page. So we built a platform where real visitors share those experiences honestly, and where you can compare churches across dimensions that genuinely predict whether you'll come back next Sunday.
What Makes FaithScout Different
Most church directories stop at the basics: name, address, service times, denomination. FaithScout goes further.
- Multi-dimensional visit reports. Instead of a single star rating, our visitors rate churches on teaching, community warmth, worship style, welcome, and children's ministry — separately. A church that nails teaching but feels cold on a Sunday morning shows up as exactly that, not as a muddled 4.2.
- Experiential details you can't find anywhere else. What does the music actually sound like? How long is the average service? Is communion weekly, monthly, or quarterly? Is there a clear path for first-time visitors? We collect and surface the details that matter.
- A matching quiz built for real life. Answer ten quick questions about your worship preferences, theological leanings, and life stage, and we'll match you with churches in your area that actually fit — not just the ones paying for ads.
- Honest denomination guides. Not sure what the difference is between Baptist and Methodist, or how a non-denominational church compares to a Presbyterian one? Our guides break it down in plain English, without taking sides.
- City-by-city discovery. Every major U.S. city has a browsable list of churches, filtered by denomination, worship style, size, and the experiences real visitors describe. Moving to a new town becomes a lot less lonely.
Who We're Built For
FaithScout is for anyone who has ever stood in a church parking lot on a Sunday morning and wondered whether they should go in. Specifically:
- People new to a city, who need to rebuild a faith community from scratch and don't know anyone to ask.
- Parentsevaluating whether a church's children's ministry, safety practices, and family culture match what their kids need.
- Young adults and college students looking for churches with a thriving peer community, not just an empty 20s group on the schedule.
- Returning visitors — people who grew up in church, stepped away for a while, and want to come back without the awkwardness of walking into the wrong kind of place.
- People who've had a bad church experience, and need a way to evaluate a new community honestly before investing their trust again.
- First-time visitorswho've never set foot in a church and want to know what to expect — and what to wear — before showing up.
How Visit Reports Work
Every visit report on FaithScout is written by a real person who actually attended a service. We ask visitors to rate churches across five independent dimensions — teaching, community, worship, welcome, and children's ministry — and to describe what made the visit stand out. We don't allow anonymous drive-by reviews, and we don't let churches pay to hide unfavorable reports.
Churches can respond publicly to any report, which means the conversation on each church profile becomes genuinely useful: a conversation between visitors and leadership, not a one-way broadcast. This is how we keep the platform honest and keep leaders engaged.
For Church Leaders
If you lead a church, FaithScout is a free way to reach people who are actively looking for a community like yours. You can claim your church listing, respond to visit reports, upload photos, add service times, and share what makes your church distinctive. Our Pro tier unlocks featured placement, visitor analytics, and advanced profile tools — but the essentials are free forever, because we think every church deserves a shot at being found.

Our Values
- Honest over flattering. We'd rather tell you something true about a church than something nice. That's the only way visit reports stay useful.
- Ecumenical without being vague. FaithScout serves churches across the theological spectrum — Catholic, Orthodox, mainline Protestant, evangelical, non-denominational, and everything in between. We take every tradition seriously and don't flatten the differences that matter.
- Experience over marketing.A glossy photo doesn't tell you whether the greeters made eye contact. A sermon clip doesn't tell you whether the kids' check-in ran smoothly. We care about what actually happens on Sunday.
- Free for visitors, forever. Reading church profiles, visit reports, and denomination guides will never cost anything. Finding a church home shouldn't come with a paywall.
